FAQ

What are facial and dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are cosmetic, biocompatible injectables. They are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and help to achieve a full, smooth, and defined appearance of facial structures such as the lips, the cheeks, and the jawline.

What is the difference between dermal fillers and botox?

Our board-certified dermatologist injects the selected facial filler at sites where natural fat has depleted, the most common being the folds next to the nose (nasolabial folds), the lines running from the mouth toward the chin (marionette lines), sunken cheeks, and thinning lips.

The new generation of facial fillers is more practical than the animal-based collagens they are descended from, as the newer products are biocompatible, more versatile in their weights and densities, and last longer. However, most facial fillers are still temporary, and depending on the staying power of the product (as well as the reaction of the patient) touch-ups will eventually be required.

How will I know which fillers is best for me?
Different fillers come in different textures and will, therefore, be chosen on a case-to-case basis to accomplish different goals in different areas of the face and body. To treat you to the highest standard, we offer a unique portfolio of different Fillers from the high-end brands Juvederm and Restylane.

Our German-board certified dermatologist will examine your situation and create a customized treatment plan just for you.

How soon will I see the results of the filler treatment?

A positive difference can usually be spotted immediately. Your skin will typically appear fuller, younger, and refreshed naturally.

I’m Interested in having fillers but will the injection hurt?

Most people find their procedure at The GDDC more comfortable than expected as fillers usually contain a local anesthetic agent, that effectively numbs the area of injection. Since our German-Board certified Dermatologist

has years of experience in Filler treatment, you should merely feel minimal discomfort on your skin during the injection.

What is the difference between fillers and botox?
Both are efficient injectable procedures but have different working mechanisms. While botulinum toxin (BOTOX) relaxes muscle action that causes wrinkles, fillers simply bolster and smooth wrinkles physically. Sometimes, these treatments can benefit each other for a better result overall (“liquid facelift”).
Are fillers long-lasting?

All the fillers used at the GDDC are made from hyaluronic acid, which breaks down and is absorbed after around 6 to 18 months.

What can fillers be used for?

The most common indication for fillers is restored areas of lost volume in the face as unwanted signs of ageing. Typical signs of ageing skin like sagging and jowls will be eradicated or reduced significantly. In the experienced hands of our specialist, the fillers can also be used to lift and support the face in a non-surgical, natural-looking way.

Other indications are smooth fine lines on the forehead and the lower facial area, whereas moderate lines occurring in the mouth to chin area as well as the nose to lip corners can be improved. The cheek and chin region can be remodeled to achieve more defined and prominent facial features.

Surgical or accidental scars can be softened, while lips can be defined or sculpted in a natural-looking manner. Lately, a special formula filler called Skin booster is getting more and more popular for its strong capacity to increase the hydration of the skin in the face, neck, hands, and décolletage area.
