Nasolabial folds develop with age between the nose and the cheeks are caused by fat-depletion under the skin. The severity is known to be genetically determined.
They can be easily and safely corrected with facial fillers, a procedure which involves injecting either natural fat or a HA-based biocompatible substitutes like Restylane, Tyoxane or Juvederm under the skin. Another effective treatment modality is Thread-Lifting with threads pulling and fixating the facial soft tissues, such as the cheek into a more favorable location to regain a youthful and naturally lifted look without the need of excessive surgical facelifting.
Both procedures should be performed by a Board Certified Dermatologist, a specialist who has extensive training in the delicate nerves and complex muscles of the face. Some cases, especially when accompanied by vertical fine lines of the upper lip may also benefit from dental reconstructive procedures, which can be performed by one of the GDDC´s German Board certified Dentists.
