Eczema is a reddish colored chronic skin condition of unknown, but presumably autoimmune origin, that recurs and often displays periodical inflammatory episodes. Although it cannot be cured predictably, it can be managed. It is characterized by dry, red, itchy patches and can appear anywhere on the skin of the body.
Eczema is a general term for a variety of inflamed skin conditions, one of the most common of which is atopic dermatitis.
It is often treated with topical medicine like steroids carefully administered by a board certified dermatologist.
Eczema is known to be sensitive to specific triggers, so part of the dermatologist’s work will be to educate the patient as to how they can be avoided in the future.
Rashes may result from a broad variety of factors from eczema to allergies to sunburn. We at the GDDC advise a check-up by our german board certified dermatologist.
