Varicose Veins

What are varicose veins?

Varicose veins are superficial, bulging veins that have become enlarged and twisted. Typically they occur under the skin of the legs. Usually, they result in few symptoms but some may experience fullness or pain in the area and they are generally considered as being aesthetically unpleasant.

Complications may include bleeding or superficial thrombophlebitis.

How do you fix varicose veins?

In order to cosmetically improve or remove those veins, dermatologists often treat them with sclerotherapy, a procedure performed in the doctor’s office. It involves injecting a solution (usually sodium chloride) directly into the with a very fine needle.

This solution irritates the lining of the vessel, eventually causing it to collapse and disappear. Some cases are best treated with specialized laser therapy.

A consultation with our German board-certified dermatologist will lead to a personalized, comprehensive, and result-oriented treatment plan.
